Director of Operations

Inspirica is one of the largest organizations serving the homeless in Connecticut. We provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing and affordable housing to approximately 800 adults and children in lower Fairfield County each year. We further provide critical support services such as children’s services, vocational training, workforce education, job placement, job/housing retention services, and counseling as well as access to health care, substance abuse treatment, mental health care, etc. In addition to being homeless, the people we serve typically suffer from mental illness, substance abuse and/or HIV/AIDS. Many also have severe cognitive impairments, a history of incarceration, little or no work history, and little education. All of our participants live at or below the poverty level.

Our mission is to break the cycle of homelessness by helping people achieve – and maintain – permanent housing and stability in their lives.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Director of Operations. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of information technology, communications systems, business process improvement, and facilities management. Candidates must be highly organized and motivated. The Director will support the agency’s mission by ensuring a high performing infrastructure that allows front line staff to maximize their efficiency. In addition, the Director will be responsible for certain office management activities, including vendor management, purchasing, and tenant relationships. The Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer.   

Specific job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. In conjunction with IT vendor, manage IT network, including submitting trouble tickets, requests for network accounts, and purchasing new IT equipment and devices. Provide strategic planning for IT infrastructure upgrades and expansion.

  2. Administer Inspirica’s VOIP system and manage vendor relationship with VOIP provider.

  3. Administer Inspirica’s security camera system, manage relationship with security system vendor and provide basic troubleshooting of security camera network. Provide strategic planning for security system infrastructure upgrades and expansion.

  4. Oversee day-to-day business operations as it relates to Operations initiatives, including overseeing front desk staff and managing invoice/procurement processes.

  5. Work in conjunction with the Director of Maintenance on Capital Budget projects to ensure all budgets are updated and controlled.

  6. Organize leadership team meetings and other onsite and offsite staff meetings

  7. Assist with managing tenant relationships (quarterly tenant meeting, building issues, visitor compliance).

  8. Other office vendor management (mobile devices, copiers, printers, postage machine, etc)

  9. General office procurement.

  10. Support other initiatives of the Chief Operating Officer. 

Requirements

  • BA degree

  • Proven experience as an operations leader

  • Knowledge of IT/Telecom processes and best practices

  • Strong ability in using MS Office (Outlook, Word, basic Excel)

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality

  • Good organizational and time management skills
